“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

greek gods Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods by Rick Riordan

 Publisher: Disney Hyperion

Date of Publication: August 19th 2014

 Synopsis (Rick Riordan’s Blog):

Who could tell the origin stories of the gods of Olympus better than a modern-day demigod? Percy Jackson provides an insider’s view with plenty of ‘tude in this illustrated collection.

A publisher in New York asked me to write down what I know about the Greek gods, and I was like, Can we do this anonymously? Because I don’t need the Olympians mad at me again. But if it helps you to know your Greek gods, and survive an encounter with them if they ever show up in your face, then I guess writing all this down will be my good deed for the week.

So begins Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods, in which the son of Poseidon adds his own magic–and sarcastic asides–to the classics. He explains how the world was created, then gives readers his personal take on a who’s who of ancients, from Apollo to Zeus. Percy does not hold back. “If you like horror shows, blood baths, lying, stealing, backstabbing, and cannibalism, then read on, because it definitely was a Golden Age for all that.”

Dramatic full-color illustrations throughout by Caldecott Honoree John Rocco make this volume–a must for home, library, and classroom shelves–as stunning as it is entertaining.

Why am I awaiting this book?

After the last batch of the companion stories, I am wondering if and where this will fall in the timeline. Though the stories of the Greek Gods are nothing new, anything narrated from Percy’s perspective (being the original voice) is always interesting and fun!

The Revenge of Seven 1

The Revenge of Seven (Lorien Legacies #5) by Pittacus Lore

Publisher: Harper Collins

Date of Publication: August 26th 2014

Synopsis (Goodreads):

The worst was supposed to be over. We were reunited after a decade apart. We were discovering the truth of our past. We were training and getting stronger every day. We were even happy…

We never imagined the Mogadorians could turn one of our own against us. We were fools for trusting Five. And now Eight is lost forever. I would do anything to bring him back, but that’s impossible. Instead, I will do whatever it takes to destroy every last one of them.

I’ve spent my entire life hiding from them, and they’ve stolen everything away from me. But that stops now. We’re going to take the battle to them. We have a new ally who knows their weaknesses. And I finally have the power to fight back.

They caught Number One in Malaysia.

Number Two in England.

Number Three in Kenya.

And Number Eight in Florida.

They killed them all.

I am Number Seven.

I will make them pay.

Why am I awaiting this book?

This series isn’t great but still good enough to keep me interested and I want to know what happens next.

About Sapphire

Hi, I'm 23 years old. I enjoy reading fantasies, mysteries/thrillers, romances... mostly fiction. My choice in movies is widespread. Series mostly consist of crime and comedy shows with occasional dramas and sit-coms. My close friends and family kept saying (complaining) that I critique most of what I read and watch, so I decided to pursue it, here! View all posts by Sapphire

Yeah, I think I’m definitely going to enjoy getting Percy’s take on these traditional Greek myths! lol I do love the way he (Riordan/Percy) spins things in the rest of his books. I’ve only read 2 of the Lorien Legacies, but I liked how different they were! Happy reading!

    My WoW.

Thank you! 🙂 The real wait is of course for ‘The Blood of Olympus’. Can’t wait to find out how that ends!
The Lorien Legacies books aren’t great, but a lot of the sections, the story itself and basically any character other than John and Sarah, are good. This one will hopefully be interesting because it’s about Seven, whose narrative is always the best.
Thank you for visting and commenting 😀
